Spoken Word Poetry Assignment

In a spoken poetry "Tomatoes" by Shane Koyczan, he answers a question that people always ask him; "How do you memorize all of that?". He compares the way how he memorize to his first kiss that tasted like tomatoes. It is hard to memorize people's name, birthdays, anything that are everywhere, but what he is saying is that "I remember all the ways people have affected me.", or something he does not expect. Analogy stands out in this poetry. He refers his remarkable experiences in his middle school such as nickname, swear, and relationship to why he remembers them clearly. He also advises that life will be worth remembering if people put themselves into every second of every minutes. The way he memorizes is not a trick.

Writing Dialogue

We are talking about Canadian things and Lisa questioned,"What's Canadian food?"
"Well," think what we have, "poutine is popular."
"You must try it," I added.

"Who is the most famous Canadian singer?"
Lisa has been asking me so many questions.
"Maybe," answered unsurely, "Justin Bieber."

I asked my friend, "Do you know any other Canadian singers?"
"Avril Lavigne is Canadian," she told us.
"Yeah, she is famous in Japan, isn't she?"

Excuse Me

A short story “Bluffing” is written by Gail Helgason, and set in Jasper.  One day, Liam goes hiking with his girlfriend, Gabriella, and gets injured in a grizzly bear as he runs away from Gabriella. He seems to be trying to protect Gabriella more than himself from the bear, but actually is pretending so, and protects himself.  When Gabriella tries to bring up the subject of the lease, “[The landlord] always speaks to her about these matters, not Liam.”  It shows that he is not really trusted by people around him. He says to Gabriella that he has left her and has run away from the bear because he knows that a bear will chase running people so that he can save Gabriella, but he seems to want to escape and did not care about Gabriella at all. Although she reminds Liam, “’Try backing off slowly,’ she said. ‘Bluff him, remember?’”, Liam is panicked and chooses to leave Gabriella. If Liam followed her reminder, both of them would be fine. He bluffs to Gabriella at the hospital. “I meant the bear to come after me instead of you,” It is a human nature that he chooses to run away from a wild bear. Gabriella saved herself.

Fault

Again, the same old lady is smoking in the dark alley. She always wears a box of jewelleries: huge purl of earrings, thick rings on the ring finger, and a chain of purls around her skinny neck, which seem too heavy for her winkled skin. Those jewels are not sparkle enough to light up her dark skinned face. A big straw hat covers a half of her thin grey hair. Her lips with a light pink lipstick on, is a chimney that pollutes surrounding beauties. The wheelchair makes a sound when she moves the wheels. It is like a moment that a broken clock’s hand shifts when the woman tries to go forward. How many pedestrians are aware of her? She looks weaker and weaker every time she appears on this alley, and she will be at five metres ahead than the last time. Her emotion tries to vanish with the smoke.
